Community consultation is an important part of our development process and the following questionnaire has been designed to capture your comments on key aspects of the scheme.

Facilities and Parking

Maidstone Borough Council has identified the site at King Street as offering good potential for a sustainable affordable housing scheme designed by ZED PODS development. This is based on benefits such as the wide range of facilities and amenities within walking distance of the site, access to Maidstone Railway Stations and regular bus route into and out of the town.

Please answer the following questions and indicate your response by circling the statement that best describes how you feel.

1. With good access to public transport connections the site is appropriate for a car-free development of this scale
2. There is a good selection of cafes, shops, supermarkets and local services within walking distance of the site which enable effective car free living
3. The King Street car park is often full at busy times. Therefore the Council wishes to create new homes, without impacting upon the existing availability of parking spaces?
4. The current carpark has a 3 hour limit and a no return policy. Do you feel this is appropriate and effectively enforced?
5. The parking enforcement needs upgrading and penalty enforcement?

Design

1. Do you feel the development offers a good use of space and is at a scale appropriate to its surroundings
2. The proposed development seek to protect the mature tress surrounding the site, which provides natural screening. Do you feel that:

The existing separation of pedestrians and cars in the car park is not very well defined. In the proposal, we have added clear separation to enhance pedestrian safety.

Tenure

If this concept succeeds, the potential exists to create many more new affordable homes above vacant or under-utilised land such as carparks in and around Maidstone. As such this development is an important first step in solving Maidstone’s housing problems.
